Team Kwagga is extremely proud to announce that we won round 5 of the Maxxis SA National 4XTR Championship in KZN near Durban on Saturday 26 July in a convincing fashion! The obstacles suited our exuberant style and Kwagga relished in showing off his capabilities! From the crackling new Bilstein dampers with integrated bump stops to the fresh new set of Maxxis Bighorn tyres, from Arno’s unquestionable 4x4 racing skills to my help as co-driver and designer of Kwagga, the package worked perfectly! Well almost… We missed a gate once and some other minor mishaps did happen here and there, but all-in-all it was a fantastic team effort that came together after nearly 2 years since we started with this project.

The Championship chase in our class (Street Legal Lockers) is once again on a knife edge, we are tied for the lead at 142 points each with Shaun and Lynette Kruger, last year’s National Class Champions! Third place is occupied by Roelf Kruger and Francois Rust, always ready to challenge for the lead should we lose concentration. A big thanks to all our sponsors who make this possible, you see their names on our website, without them we would be nowhere, seriously!

My darling wife Sanette did a sterling job to capture Saturday’s action on video. I added some in-car actioncam footage from my helmet camera and the combination makes for a really exciting video of Saturday’s Team Kwagga highlights! Please visit our website at www.zfactor.co.za and click on the “Video” tab, choose the Durban video which should be at the top of the list, fasten your seatbelts, sit back and enjoy!

We would like to compliment the KZN team that set out the course for Saturday, Hanko tells me that the leaders were Andrew Williams, Rory Flett and Brett Law who were ably assisted by their co-drivers and other club members. Thanks guys, it is events like these that keep us coming back for more, awesome stuff!

Lastly, work on our 4XTR 4x4 competition truck Kobra for next year has started again after the Atlas transfer case setback. We bought a suitable gearbox from Bruce and Lynton at Ultimate Offroad and the job to connect this lot to Kwagga’s trusty 1JZ 6-cylinder turbo charged engine has begun, watch this space!
